I stumbled upon this profound card today, which I believe is from one of Pastor Eddie Turner’s teachings. He had a way of shedding light on the difficult topic of forgiveness, something that many people struggle with. I often receive questions about how far one must go to forgive, and it’s disheartening to see some individuals choose to remain imprisoned by their pain instead of embracing the freedom that comes from obeying Christ’s words.
It makes me wonder why some people cling so tightly to their hurt, unable to comprehend that forgiveness holds the key to liberation. It’s crucial to understand that forgiveness is not about receiving reciprocation from those who have wronged us. Rather, it’s about seeking forgiveness from our Heavenly Father and obeying His teachings, which leads to healing within ourselves. The lack of understanding surrounding this truth is the only conclusion I can draw.
Jesus provides us with guidance on this matter: “So Jesus was saying to those Jews who had believed Him, ‘If you continue in My word, then you are truly disciples of Mine; and you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free.'” (John 8:31-32) The truth, His truth, is what sets us free. It’s a journey of comprehension and action that brings about positive, powerful, and liberating changes, ultimately improving the quality of our lives.
If you find yourself struggling with forgiveness and want to comprehend your role as a faithful follower of Christ, I highly recommend praying for the help of the Holy Spirit, the Helper, and delving deep into the Scriptures to study forgiveness extensively. Remember, it is the truth that sets us free. May your journey towards forgiveness be guided by prayer and the pursuit of truth.
