If we can learn to take ownership of the positive thoughts and disown the negative thoughts, think about how successful we can be.  It’s actually a struggle that many people face.  Just because that ugly thought pops into your head doesn’t mean you have to own it.  Just because someone said something bad about you doesn’t mean it’s true.  How we see ourselves shouldn’t be based on the ugly, hateful things someone else may have said about us or some distorted thinking and opinion we may have of ourselves.  

The battlefield of life is primarily in the mind.  Whatever we face in life has to be processed through our minds, and we determine how successful we will be going into it by the way we think.  If we can control our thoughts, change the way we think, we can control our destiny’s success.  If we believe we can- we can.  If we believe we can’t- we can’t.  So how do we begin training our minds to have success? We Turn first to the one who gave us our mind. Scripture tells us we have to declare war on negative thoughts and make them bow to the King of kings and Lord of lords! 

We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.

We have to be willing to recognize and capture those thoughts that are harmful negative thoughts.  We have to acknowledge they are destructive enemies that bring us no good and tear us down.  Here is the same scripture in its entirety.  Here is what we can do. 

We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One.

We are made in the image of God, and we know that every good and perfect thing comes down from heaven above.  The psalmist David had this to say.  

I thank you, God, for making me so mysteriously complex! Everything you do is marvelously breathtaking. It simply amazes me to think about it! How thoroughly you know me, Lord! You even formed every bone in my body when you created me in the secret place, carefully, skillfully shaping me from nothing to something.

So, we first have to tackle in our minds that we have been created with perfection, being skillfully and carefully shaped by God’s hand. He made us, and God doesn’t make junk, and He doesn’t make mistakes. Because we have been made in His image, we have been made with purpose and the ability to succeed! David goes on to say this. 

You saw who you created me to be before I became me! Before I’d ever seen the light of day, the number of days you planned for me were already recorded in your book.

God has already planned us for success! He saw us before we ever came to be and gave us everything we needed to be successful! In this battle for our mind, we have to have faith and believe what His words tell us.  Read this next scripture slowly and think about it. Remember- we are talking about the battle of the mind. 

In every battle, take faith as your wrap-around shield, for it is able to extinguish the blazing arrows coming at you from the Evil One! Embrace the power of salvation’s full deliverance, like a helmet to protect your thoughts from lies. And take the mighty razor-sharp Spirit-sword of the spoken Word of God. Pray passionately in the Spirit, as you constantly intercede with every form of prayer at all times. Pray the blessings of God upon all his believers.

The power of full salvation is possession and protection of our minds.  We have to protect our thoughts from lies! The enemy wants to attack our minds – flaming arrows.  We have to defend it.  Do you think he will tell you the truth?  No!!  he cannot tell the truth and every evil negarive thing that comes into our minds is from him! Jesus called him the father of lies! 

He was always against the truth. There is no truth in him. He is like the lies he tells. Yes, the devil is a liar. He is the father of lies.

So what he wants to try and do is land those lies, making us think those thoughts are ours and get us to accept them as truth to build up strongholds in our minds.  We cannot let him, and we have to embrace God’s full salvation and tear down everything he has erected in our thoughts! Full salvation includes a SOUND MIND! 

For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

God wants us to walk and live in peace! 

You cannot have peace if you are continually bombarded with negative thoughts about yourself. You cannot take ownership of those lies and be at peace.  It’s time to lay them down and embrace the Father’s love and His gift to you! Believe better for yourself. Disown those hurtful thoughts. Believe in YOU. Think better about yourself. I know He does! 

For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.
