God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.
(2 Corinthians 5:21 NIV)
About three in the afternoon, Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli, lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).
(Matthew 27:46 NIV)
Jesus tasted death and separation from His Father in order to save us! He became so grotesque with the sin of humanity that even His Father had to look away as Jesus experienced momentary separation from His Father’s voice and presence. It was the only way Jesus could rescue humanity! He became sin and took on our sickness to heal us and deliver us from this fallen world!
Think about it!! Whatever we face as humanity, He became, and He destroyed it on the cross!!! He became bipolar on the cross and destroyed it! ! He became depression and crushed it! He became cancer and annihilated it! He became all of the corruption, sickness, and downfall of humanity, and He destroyed it with His death on the cross!! He destroyed everything that had come to destroy us, and His resurrection leads a train of captives ( fallen humanity) to freedom! He did all of this because of His love for us!
And he has generously given each one of us supernatural grace, according to the size of the gift of Christ. This is why he says: “He ascends into the heavenly heights taking his many captured ones with him, and gifts were given to men.” He “ascended” means that he returned to heaven after he had first descended from the heights of heaven, even to the lower regions, namely, the earth. The same one who descended is also the one who ascended above the heights of heaven, to begin the restoration and fulfillment of all things.
(Ephesians 4:7-10 -TPT)
We have been rescued because of what Jesus has done for us. It is why someone such as myself can be the man that I am today because He set me free and destroyed my addiction at the cross! Jesus gave me His truth that overcomes depression, bipolar, and low self-worth! He sent His word and His physicians to cure me of Hepatitis C. He healed me emotionally and mended my brokenness. He gave me a sound mind and filled my heart with joy and my mind with peace. He gave me value because He saw my worth and rescued my life from the pit of destruction and despair! His blood poured from His veins and cleansed me of every evil thing sent to devour me and gave me new life! He destroyed not only the stench of the “needle and spoon, “but the stench of all that came with that life and filled it with the fragrant offering of Christ! My mind has and is continually being renewed! My soul has, and is, continually being restored! That old man is dead, and a new man lives because the resurrection and the life live in me! Jesus is our victorious and risen King! Whatever we struggle with or face in life that is destructive to us and overpowering to us, Jesus destroyed it at the cross by allowing it to be placed on Him. He took our suffering!
Yet he was the one who carried our sicknesses and endured the torment of our sufferings. We viewed him as one who was being punished for something he himself had done, as one who was struck down by God and brought low. But it was because of our rebellious deeds that he was pierced and because of our sins that he was crushed. He endured the punishment that made us completely whole, and in his wounding we found our healing.
(Isaiah 53:4-5 TPT)
His love for us is far greater than we can imagine! His rescuing us is complete! He left no stone unturned and fought for us on every level and defeated every enemy to ensure our freedom! It is finished! (John 19:30)
