Believed=

H539. אָמַן ’āman: A verb meaning to be firm, to build up, to support, to nurture, or to establish. The primary meaning is that of providing stability and confidence, like a baby would find in the arms of a parent. It is used to signify support of a pillar.

The psalmist said he would have despaired had he not believed. To believe is to be firm through the process of building oneself up. We build our faith by nurturing it with the word of God.

Romans 10:17 So faith comes from hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ. (NASB)

Do not despair, but rather, hope in God! Trust in His word! Believe on Him and be safe from all fears! God holds the universe in His hands and all things are in His control! Not one sparrow falls to the ground without Him knowing about it and if His eye is on the sparrow…… well, you know the answer. God truly cares for us. No need for despair, only believe. It is faith in His promises that will see us through.

Galatians 6:9 (NLT)

So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

If we don’t lose hope we will see the promises of Gods word come to fruition. We keep from losing hope by trusting His word. If we find ourselves losing hope then we have to fill our hearts and mind with His word in order to regain strength.

Psalm 119:28 (AMP)

My soul dissolves because of grief; Renew and strengthen me according to [the promises of] Your word.

Renew and strengthen with the promise of the word!! Renew!! Strengthen!! God wants strength in the hearts of His people!! He wants hope in our hearts and has given us the means to have it! Look how He does it. His word! His word is so powerful! Don’t lose hope! Don’t despair! Hope in His word! Let His word build faith in the areas it is needed and become a shield that quenches every fiery dart of the enemy!!

Ephesians 6:16-17 (AMP)

Above all, lift up the [protective] shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God.

There is no despair where there is hope and there is hope where there is His word! When we look to God with hopeful expectation and clothe ourselves in His word we become hidden in our protector. When we look to and put trust in His word we are saying- “ Lord, I hide myself in You!”

Can you think of any greater place to be?

Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. Rescue me from my enemies, Lord, for I hide myself in you. Teach me to do your will, for you are my God; may your good Spirit lead me on level ground.

We have hope!

But You, Eternal One, wrap around me like an impenetrable shield. You give me glory and lift my eyes up to the heavens.
